Karen's grandfather was in the Coast Guard for 38 years. When he retired, his unit gave him a gift of a ship's bell clock engraved with his name, rank and dates of service. My grandmom held onto the clock since Grandpa Frank's death in 1986.My family decided to pass the clock on to Jeff in honor of his service to our country. The clock is brass, so my dad refurbished the outside and overhauled the inner workings of the clock. During the journey of the clock, the brass plaque with Grandpa Frank’s service dates disappeared, so my family had a new plaque made with Jeff’s name and rank.
Jeff didn’t know my family was going to present the clock to him on a recent trip we made to Florida. My dad asked Jeff to help him out with a clock he was repairing, and had Jeff put the new plaque on the clock. Jeff is very honored to have the clock and its now on his desk at work.
