- Jeff and Karen Doherty
- We were married in September 2005. We're best friends, and we love traveling and exploring new places. We like sci-fi movies and watching the history channel. Our little boy was born February 1, 2010. He is named Jeff Jr. or JJ. Our daughter Moira was born July 28, 2011. We have a cat named Munchkin. Jeff is a career military officer, and Karen works for a family services program for the Army. We live in Monterey, California. We are making this blog for our family and friends who we miss and want to share our life with.

Vow Renewal Celebration!
Hi Everyone! Life in the Doherty household has been busy over the last few months. The time since we were first married has passed quickly, and we celebrated our second anniversary this past September. We originally had a friend in Florida marry us quickly because we were moving out to Monterey and the people we wanted with us on that special day were so far away.
In honor of our family and friends, we are organizing a vow renewal ceremony in September 2008 aboard the Liberty of Seas. Invitations went out last week and everyone is invited. The cruise is very family friendly, and there are many activities available for children. We look forward to seeing as many of you as can make it! Drop us an email if you have any questions: kitska16@hotmail.com
Hope to see you in the sun!

Kaleidoscope Quilt
Karen has been working on a Kaleidoscope Quilt over the last two months and finished the top of the quilt earlier this evening. The original quilt fabric came from an Asian theme collection. The fabric has a tan background with pink and red cherry blossoms. This version of kaleidoscope quilt is made with a technique using one piece of fabric and cutting triangles that are sewn into hexagons. These are pieced in such a way that the end result looks nothing like the original fabric. We hung the quilt top on the way to take pictures. We have a few we took along the way to give an idea of the process. We can't wait to see the finished usable product!
Volunteer of the year
Karen was awarded Army Family Team Building Volunteer of the year at the annual Presidio of Monterey Volunteer award ceremony. Of 4,000 volunteer hours recorded for this fiscal year, Karen donated over 700 hours and Jeff donated over 300.
